Hands up if you do any of these on a regular:
Coca Cola 86 T-Shirt £7, Sandy Top £6, Gingham Padded Built Camisole £8, Moda Embellished Panel Top £10, Heart Print Boxy Shirt £12 – all from George at Asda.
I’ve been doing all of the above for the past month now. Accepting an offer for a recent assignment, see’s me commute to work every day for over an hour! (Remind me why I do this to myself!) Lot’s of people commute to and from work everyday and it’s hard to look flawless and well-put-together while doing it. (Believe me I’ve tried).
By the time I’ve power-walked my way to my destination, I’m normally:
a) Pushed for time
b) Glowing from head-to-toe (that’s not happiness dah-ling just sheer sweat) and…
c) Reaching for the Dove deodorant spray!
‘Well, why don’t you just go home and change?’ I hear you say. My response would be that it’s not always possible to make the pilgrimage all the way back home before you venture forth into the night!!!
I get so hot while on my travels that I often carry spare tops in my bag. Now, for all you fashion lovers, there’s an outfit in there somewhere.
It’s these un-glamourous situations that have inspired this very post. If you’ve ever found yourself in need of some extra tops to slip into your bag, here are some options that might help:
The perfect work shirt, with a pinch of sweetness – you could pretty
much wear this with anything.
So those are the tops that made it into my ‘pop in your handbag list’.
I guess the moral of the story here is… don’t just throw any old thing in your bag! Try and optimise them by teaming these pieces with what you already have on. This way you’ll get it right for every occasion. My favourite item has to be the Heart Print Boxy. It’s perfect for work and would be perfect for an early evening outfit as well. Sadly, my local George at ASDA didn’t actually have my size – so I decided to pull this face in disappointment! he he 🙂
Have you brought any fab tops recently?
I do love a good bargain, so please do share and tell…
Happy Bank Holiday Weekend,

If you’re a sucker for a Jammy Dodger like me, you’ll be surprised to find that Lush have created a meltable skincare bar, inspired by Britain’s most popular biscuit. [Ok well I don’t know that for a fact…but it’s sure popular in my office!]
A little dickie bird told me, that The Massage Bar was among one of the carefully selected items at the Lush press preview! Sadly I couldn’t make it, so I missed all the professional demos and product speeches. However the good news is that I had a good old play around for myself.
Here’s the lowdown…
‘Inspired by the jammy dodger, this is made with a luxurious blend of butters and oils, including capuacu butter, shea butter & olive oil’
‘Close To You’ is a smooshable massage bar which melts away in the water, in order for you to apply to your skin. It’s predominantly oil based, which means that it absorbs your pores a lot better than cream based products! It may be small in size, but don’t be fooled, the smidgen that is 45g of fragranted bar, is more than substantial to use on your entire body!
Due to the recently harsh weather, I’ve been battling with skin dryer than an elephant’s tusk! So I wanted to see if this massage bar, could relieve me of flaky skin and dryness! Success! It did indeed. At first I found the bar to be overwhelmingly sticky [hence why it is wrapped in paper]. To what degree? Well, take the consistency of a lip balm and times it by 5… that should give you an idea of what the texture is like. However after working this into the skin – I really did start to notice how much the bar had perfectly smoothed out the liney creases, that skincare cream doesn’t always reach.
This product is very messy, so I would recommend that you have a few oil based solutions to help you fully rinse it all off afterwards! It would also help to have some fluffy towels at the ready, for dabbing away the excess!
My advice would be to use this while you take a bath, so that you can work with the sheer amount of balm it provides.
All in all – it’s a beautifully fragranced item; perfect for dry skin sufferers and it’s also vegan friendly. Did I also mention that the vanilla ingredient used is Fair Trade? Who would have known that Jammy Dodgers would have become so ethical eh!
Despite being sticky, this item provided a fabulous pick-me-up for dry wintery skin!
It’s a fab:
This item retails at £5.50 for 45g and can be purchased here.
If you do decide to venture over to Lush, it might be worth checking out their other massage bars! In my opinion, they’re just as soothing on the skin as Radox!
Have you tried any of the Lush Massage Bars? If so which ones are your favourite?

Waxing is my preferred method of choice, but these treatments are often a rare treat for holidays only! A typical full-leg and bikini wax treatment at the salon normally sets me back around £30, while a pack of Bic razors normally costs a little less than a fiver! So it’s no expense spared when it comes to painful hair removal!
The first time my uni-mate introduced me to an epilator, I was totally put off by the sound and motion. I was never inclined to buy one. However they do say that there’s no beauty without pain.
Given that this retails over £160 its a great chance to see if this would actually provide value for money! I just want to quickly say a BIG Thank You an SHOUT OUT to the lovely team for offering me the chance to finally try it out for myself!
Now, here’s the lowdown…
Wow that’s a big claim – seeing as waxing seems to be a salon ritual. It’s obvious that there’s a great deal of buzz around this hotly anticipated product. The marketing promo for this is HUGE! So I couldn’t help but take a closer look at the girls who have the legs of Tina Turner donning Proud Mary! If only mine looked like that!
Go on then, cue video…

So Braun are promoting this as a multi-use product, which provides two skin spa treatments:
I found the Silk-epil 7 beautifully light weight and and very easy to use. There are around 40 tweezers which all contract and rotate round and this is what removes your hair follicles. The great thing about this epilator is that it works better on shorter hairs. You can also use it on wet and dry skin – a great option for shower lovers! They recommend that your hair should be approx 0.5mm – so the shorter the better. I did find it more painful when in touching distance of longer hairs – so please take note – that it’s definitely not for long strands at all. There are 5 different head caps which collectively tackle the legs, body and face, making the this one a great all round product, for someone who is looking to invest in a one-time buy.
My main target areas were predominantly my legs and bikini line. I have to say that this product worked beautifully. It takes some time to get used to the pain at first, but once your skin gets used to it, you can really get to work!
The only downside I found was that it takes a lot of power which means that it takes a lot of time to fully charge it up! Mine had to charge for a good while before I could complete both legs, otherwise I found that it would just cut out intermittently. However I did manage to combat this by leaving it alone to charge overnight – which provided much longer battery power.
Seeing as this product was for the legs, body and face, I decided to try the facial cap on the side of my face. I don’t have much hair around here to classify as sideburns, however there was some growth there, so I decided to try it on the lowest setting. Unfortunately my skin didn’t take to it very well and I ended up with this reaction. Please don’t worry and please know that my intention is not to scare-monger anyone or put any of you off from trying it. However I do think that it’s always important to provide an honest 360 degree view. It just happened to work well on all other areas of my body apart from this one.
So in light of this, my advice to anyone would be to swatch test all the different areas of your skin first, before you fully go at it. Also Braun offer an advice guide for people who are looking into epilation, so it’s worth having a read before you buy one. You can read the adviser guide here
I also have a few words of personal advice:
Despite the reaction on my face! I was really impressed by the product! It’s fairly light and compact enough to take on holiday with you. Apart from my face, it left my skin feeling silky-smooth. I like the fact that it offers a quick solution to removing hair at short notice.
It’s a fabulous:
If you do decide to invest in an epilator, its worth remembering that it is an electrical equipment! So be sure to double check that the power adapters are compatible with your region!
What are your thoughts on epilating? Are you a regular with the rotating tweezers or would you be keen to try it?
Thanks for reading,
